CAF is recruiting a Youth Competitions Officer

Job Summary

Do you think you have the training and professional experience necessary to raise the organization to the highest international standards? CAF is recruiting a Youth Competitions Officer.

Closing date: 13 February 2024

Location: The position will be based at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and implement all women’s competitions under the jurisdiction of CAF;
  • Develop and implement competition regulations, rules and procedures that meet international standards;
  • Define a competition calendar and ensure that all competitions are organized within the allocated budget and schedule;

  • Manage and oversee competition budgets, including revenue generation initiatives and expense management;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, including clubs, federations, sponsors and media partners;
  • Work with the relevant services to ensure effective management of competitions;
  • Manage and lead the team responsible for organizing all women’s competitions in all functional areas of CAF; 

  • Ensure compliance with FIFA regulations and CAF statutes, policies and procedures;
  • Evaluate competition performance and develop strategies to improve the overall quality of women’s football competitions in Africa;
  • Participate in “inspection visits” to host countries as needed;
  • Provide support for the draw for national team competitions;
  • Help define the match schedule, match operations, match day (D -1), match day and post-match activities;

  • Help produce updates/reports for the attention of the director and/or management, as well as circular letters;
  • Help prepare post-event debriefings;
  • Monitor qualifications for women’s competitions;
  • Ensure compliance with the overall administrative requirements of the general coordinators;
  • Help organize workshops as well as develop tools for competition management;
  • Manage organizing committee meetings, inter-division and inter-department coordination meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (university degree) / certificate or diploma in sports management;
  • A certificate in event management will be an added advantage;
  • At least five (5) years of proven experience managing football or other sporting events, competitions or related matters.
  • Excellent knowledge of areas related to competition management, such as match operations, tournament/event management, communication between teams and officials, and resulting relationships;

  • Passion for organizing professional football events.
  • Project management and motivational leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage dynamic and ever-changing situations in a multicultural environment while maintaining a high energy level and positive spirit;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Team spirit;
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken, is essential; fluency in Arabic and/or Portuguese is an asset;
