Fellowship Summary

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) Faculty of Law is calling for applications for 2024 Postdoctoral Research Fellows.

Closing date: 30 January 2024

Fellowships are typically awarded For a period of up to three (3) years subject to the availability of funds.

We are actively seeking dynamic candidates who are enthusiastic about research associated with the Fourth industrial revolution (41R) as well as advancing the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This call is however open to a wide range of research topics beyond these areas.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis, considering the candidate’s academic achievements, potential as an independent researcher and the extent to which s/he meets the requirements of the call.

Requirements

  • A recently obtained doctoral degree (e.g. PhD or LLD)
  • Comprehensive CV along with one or more reference letters.
  • A proposal outlining a research plan
  • Proven ability to write and publish papers in accredited peer-reviewed journals
  • Academic transcripts
  • Must not be in Full time employment at the time of taking up the Fellowship and For the duration of the Fellowship If you are an international fellow, a copy of your visa or residence permit

Fellow’s responsibilities

  • Participate in grant writing while proactively seeking external funding opportunities
  • Supervision of postgraduate students
  • Contribute to teaching when required
  • Contribute to other related research and capacity-building projects
  • Compliance with the University of Johannesburg’s policies, regulations, and protocols
