About the 12 month Graphic Design Learnership Programme
An exciting quality 12 month paid Graphic Design Work Experience Programme exists at iX in collaboration with the YES for Youth Programme.
The 12 month Programme’s purpose is to equip unemployed youth with a toolkit for employment success and consists of on the job learning, structured training and the possibility of absorption into permanent employment at iX at the end of the Programme.
You will be responsible for producing creative designs across a range of mediums (mainly digital) and completing projects from brief to beautiful elegance.
This is a remote role with the expectation of meeting in the office in Westville 1x per week. Applicants are required to have their own internet connection as well as their own laptop in order to fulfill the requirements of this role. This is an opportunity not to be missed! What you will gain from this programme?
- Gain valuable on the job training and work experience in our Graphic Design Department: Produce creative designs across a range of mediums (mainly digital), complete projects from brief to beautiful elegance, laying out pages and making colour corrections, design website banners, sit in on client meetings to discuss requirements and give feedback.
- Complete your YES Programme work readiness modules and surveys and build your skillset using the available app. These modules are designed to help you learn how to successfully navigate the world of work.
- There are 25 work readiness modules which address topics such as communication, professionalism and money management.
- Develop confidence in the workplace and a growth mindset.
- Gain more effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Receive a comprehensive CV, reference letter and certificate of completion at the end of the programme.
- Receive an opportunity of possible absorption into permanent employment at iX at the end of the Programme.
Minimum requirements needed
- Gr.12/School Leaving Certificate is a minimum
- Qualification related to Design is essential (Multimedia in design/Graphic Design/Digital Design)
- Minimum 1yr graphic design experience is required
- Looking to pursue a career in Graphic Design
- Photoshop experience is essential
- Image Etching is essential
- Proficiency in Illustrator is essential
- Basic GIF Animation is bonus
- Must be deadline driven
- Must have a passion for Design
- A portfolio showing creativity and uniqueness will be requested
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Fit the criteria for a BEE role
- Must be unemployed at the time of application for this role
- Must reside in the KZN province in close proximity to Westville where our office is based
- Ability to work in a varied, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a team
- Good communication skills
