Eligible postgraduate computer science and mathematics students can now apply for a 2024 Exness Fintech Scholarship.

Martin Thorvaldsson, the head of community at Exness, said scholarship recipients will receive comprehensive financial assistance that covers tuition fees in full, as well as living expenses, either partially or completely, depending on the recipient’s financial needs.

To qualify for this bursary, applicants should hold an existing offer of acceptance to study computer science or mathematics at UCT and must maintain a grade point average of 70%.

About the scholarship

The Exness Fintech Scholarship has been designed to further develop academic excellence among talented students from marginalised communities, and to help nurture and empower the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields in South Africa.

The Exness scholarship is specifically designed to support exceptional students pursuing their degrees in the areas of computer science, computer engineering, data science, machine learning, AI, mathematics, financial engineering, or Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).

The scholarship will cover tuition fees fully and living expenses fully or partially, depending on the financial need of the selected students.

The Exness Fintech Scholarship is the first of its kind offered at university level by a broker. The first cohort of recipients at UCT kick-started their postgraduate study programmes last year.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Holding an offer from UCT for the fields of Computer Science or Mathematics.
  2. Gross family income per annum household income under R350,000 per annum in order to qualify for 100% scholarship, and between R350,001 and R800,000 per annum to qualify for 75% scholarship.
  3. Have over 70% (or equivalent) grade average.

How to Apply

To apply for the scholarship, send your CV, a motivation letter stating your household income, your university acceptance letter, and academic transcripts to by 30 January 2024.
