South African Weather Service: Internship Programme 2024 (Support Services)

Job Summary

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is hiring and invites applications for the Support Services Internship Programme 2024.

Closing date: 06 February 2024

(Ref: ADM 2024) – 1 Position. The SAWS will pay a monthly stipend of R6 500.00. Successful candidates will be required to enter into an Internship Agreement with SAWS for a duration of twelve
months.

There will be no obligation to employ the intern on completion of the Programme

Location: Centurion. Interns will be placed at the SAWS head office, currently based at Centurion. Successful candidates will be responsible for their own transport to the office.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a Section 3(a) public entity under the Ministry of Water and Environmental Affairs and is governed by a Board of Directors.

The company became a public entity on 15 July 2001 in terms of the South African Weather Service Act (No. 8 of 2001).

It is an authoritative voice for weather and climate forecasting in South Africa and as a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) it complies with international meteorological standards.

As an Aviation Meteorological Authority, SAWS is designated by the state to provide weather services to the aviation industry, marine and a range of other identified clients and to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be 18 – 35 years of age.
  • An applicant must have been unemployed and with no work experience.
  • Qualifications: Administration (Degree or Btech in Public Administration, Office Management or Human Resource Management.
