The South African Weather Service (SAWS) hereby invites applications for their one-year Internship
Programme.
We are looking for high- achieving graduates to join our internship Programme in the
following scientific fields: Research Department: (A suitable Bachelor of Arts or BSC in Geography, Environmental Science, or any related on these fields.
- REF: Research 2024 – 1 Position
Location: Centurion. Learners will be placed at the SAWS head office, currently based at Centurion. Successful candidates will be responsible for their own transport to the office.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is a Section 3(a) public entity under the Ministry of Water and Environmental Affairs and is governed by a Board of Directors.
The company became a public entity on 15 July 2001 in terms of the South African Weather Service Act (No. 8 of 2001).
It is an authoritative voice for weather and climate forecasting in South Africa and as a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) it complies with international meteorological standards.
As an Aviation Meteorological Authority, SAWS is designated by the state to provide weather services to the aviation industry, marine and a range of other identified clients and to fulfil a range of international obligations of the government.
Requirements
- Attach transcript of the appropriate tertiary qualification Degree/Bachelor of Science relevant
- to the above-mentioned fields.
- An applicant must be a graduate or have been unemployed after completion of a tertiary
qualification, within 18- 35 years of age
Other Conditions
Successful candidates:
- Interns will be placed within the SAWS: Gauteng Offices AND such preference will be given to Gauteng based unemployed graduates.
- Successful candidates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport.
- SAWS will pay a monthly stipend of R6 500.00
- SAWS is under no obligation to employ the intern on completion of the Programme
