Bursary Summary

The State Information Technology Agency SOC Ltd (SITA) invites applications for the External Bursary Programme 2024 [x25 bursaries].

Closing date: 16 February 2024

SITA bursary scheme aims to create a technical pipeline aimed at addressing the current skills gaps within the Information Communications Technology fraternity. The SITA invites students to apply for funding.

Bursaries will be awarded to twenty-five (25) deserving students across the country. The breakdown of the bursary opportunities per province are as follows:

  • Eastern Cape (3);
  • Free State (3);
  • Gauteng (2);
  • Kwa-Zulu Natal (3);
  • Limpopo (3);
  • Mpumalanga (3);
  • North West (3);
  • Northern-Cape (3) and
  • Western-Cape (2)

What the SITA Bursary covers

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses:

  • tuition fees,
  • prescribed study materials,
  • accommodation,
  • meals,
  • allowances and
  • work integrated learning (where applicable)i

Eligibility Requirements for the SITA Bursary

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must be have completed Matric in 2023
  • You must intend on studying full time, towards a degree (NQF level 7) in one of the following qualifications:
    • BSc: Computer Science
    • BSc Cyber Security
    • BSc Computer Science and Informatics with Artificial Intelligence
    • BSc Information Technology

  • You must have been accepted/registered to study at a recognized public tertiary institute within South Africa
  • You must have passed matric with an average of 70%i
  • Applicants from previously disadvantaged background are encouraged to applyi
  • You must not have already secured a bursary that covers your studies

How to Apply for the SITA Bursary

Complete the online bursary application form on at the bottom of this post. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit the following documents before the bursary is awarded:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric statement of results (certified copy)
  • Acceptance letter from public institution of higher learning on the institution letter head
  • Curriculum Vitae

Correspondence will be entered to with the successful applicants only and relevant Public Tertiary Institution once the SITA Bursary Adjudication Committee finalized the adjudication process.

The decisions taken by the SITA Bursary Adjudication Committee will be final and no correspondence will be entered into with unsuccessful applicants. SITA reserves the right to not award bursaries.
