Job Summary

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is recruiting for the Aviation Safety Information Officer Traineeship 2024.

Location: Midrand, Gauteng

Job Purpose

To provide support on safety information on incident and accident data to improve on effectiveness and efficiency of the department by making safety recommendations and capturing safety data.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority is the civil aviation authority of South Africa, overseeing civil aviation and governing investigations of aviation accidents and incidents.

It is headquartered in the Ikhaya Lokundiza Building 16 in Waterfall Park, Midrand, near Johannesburg. SAAA is a Schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).

It was established on 1 October 1998, following the enactment of the now repealed South African Civil Aviation Authority Act 40 of 1998.

The SACAA is taking applications for the above-stated career opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect Safety information data from various sources
  • Validate the data sources and distribute to the relevant  departments internally
  • Maintain and update of the CSSR/CHARS data base 
  • Conduct safety risk assessment

  • With reference to the findings of the investigations, propose safety recommendations, actions and possible accident prevention programs.

  • Keep records of all the report
  • Provide industry feedback to the SACAA



Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade12 with Engineering diploma or AME or PPL or ATC or cabin crew licence

Ideal Qualification and Experience:

  • n/a


  • 1 – 3 years as an Aviation Safety officer or assistant
