Munich Re invites recent graduates to apply for the Risk Graduate Trainee Internship.

This is a 12 month contract and will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa Limited (MRoA) has been operating in South Africa for over 50 years, although the Munich Re (Group) was active on the Continent via Munich Re in Munich for some years before commencing the Southern African operation in Johannesburg in 1968. T

The Head Office of MRoA is in Johannesburg, with a client service Life office situated in Cape Town.

About the Graduate Trainee Programme

As a Graduate at Munich Re of Africa, you will be expected to: 

  • Take part in Soft Skills and Technical training 
  • Contribute to all analyses and review tasks performed to satisfy the requirements of the Risk Function.
  • Contribute to the quality assurance of the Internal Control System (ICS)
  • Contribute to the reporting of risk-related topics within the Company to fulfil the disclosure responsibilities under SAM

  • May present to and train staff members on risk-related topics, including fulfilling a role as risk consultant to the business.
  • Support business to further develop the Company risk culture
  • Collection of relevant information for risk monitoring, including updating of the risk event log, measures etc.

  • Support the team on latest risk management, business continuity management and information-security management tasks and deliverables.
  • Review risk management policies and guidelines and assessing the appropriateness thereof.
  • Help organise and conduct workshops for internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in team specific tasks and deliverables as required

Qualifications

  • BCom Economics, Risk and Investment management.
  • An excellent academic record (Average above 65%).
  • 1-2 years’ work experience in enterprise risk management would be beneficial.
  • Driven and passionate individual.

  • Report writing and documentation skills.
  • The ability to analyse and interpret risk management information.
  • Make decisions and work towards meeting deadlines.
  • The ability to support and co-ordinate projects; and
  • The ability to work under pressure.
