ENS Executives: 2024 Winter Vacation Programme for Law Students

Would you like to get an insight into what life is like at Africa’s largest law firm? You have come to the right place.

Our Vac Programme allows you to gain exposure at the coalface and see the types of matters we do. You’ll witness what drives us to excel and see a little bit of what we call “home”. We are also eager to meet you and get to know you better.

Our Vac Programme isn’t just a shadowing exercise; rather, it’s fully structured to give you an introduction to the firm and the business of law. You’ll get to attend interesting talks by ENS Executives, go on court visits and work with highly experienced attorneys – and there’ll also be some fun activities too.

We are also offering virtual Vac Programmes customised per jurisdiction. You may apply for this as you would for a place on our usual Vac Programme.

We usually offer Vac Programmes in the following jurisdictions, which may change from time to time:

Accra (Ghana): June/July and August/September

Cape Town (South Africa): June/July and November/December

Johannesburg (South Africa): June/July and November/December

Kampala (Uganda): dates vary – contact us for more information

Kigali (Rwanda): dates vary – contact us for more information

Nairobi (Kenya): dates vary – contact us for more information

Port Louis (Mauritius): dates vary – contact us for more information

Windhoek (Namibia): June/July and November/December

Applications for our Vac Programme remain open throughout the year, but placements are limited. It is therefore best to apply as early as possible so that, if you are unsuccessful, there will still be enough time to make a new application in the following semester or year of study.

If you are studying a four year LLB or equivalent, the best time to apply is during your second year. For those pursuing a combined B.A (Law) / B.Com (Law) with LLB or equivalent, the earliest you can apply is the end of the second year of your BA (Law) / B.Com (Law). If you’re completing the three year post-graduate LLB or equivalent, please apply during your first year of study.
