Job Summary

The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) is recruiting for Digital Ambassadors: Yarona Digital Programme (Six months contract) x35 posts.

Closing Date: 27 February 2024 (16:30pm).

Location: Ambassadors will be based in the Frances Baard District Municipality in:

  1. Sol Plaatje x18 posts,
  2. Dikgatlong x6 posts,
  3. Magareng x5 posts,
  4. Phokwane x6 posts.

Stipend: Ambassadors shall be paid a monthly stipend.

Job Purpose

To attend training on the identified basic digital literacy modules as requested. To provide training to community members on basic digital literacy skills modules as guided.

About NEMISA

The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa was established as a non-profit institute for education in terms of the Companies Act (1973) and is listed as a schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (1999).

NEMISA derives its mandate from the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) which was formed subsequent to the merger of the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS) and the Department of Communication.

The mission of NEMISA is to provide national digital skills training for the proper use of technology, in order to improve the quality of live of all people in South Africa.

Duties and Objectives

The job purpose is: to attend training on the identified basic digital literacy content. To provide training to community members on basic digital literacy skills.

The job objectiver are:

  • Learn basic digital literacy skills: 4IR, Network Connections, Mobile Applications etc.
  • Deliver training to communities on basic digital literacy.
  • Day to day interaction with local communities related to basic digital literacy.
  • Participate during training sessions to ensure adequate knowledge is gained.
  • Be able to conduct training to community members.

  • Liaise with the municipality on the venues for community training.
  • Ensure relevant training is conducted and meets prescribed training requirements.
  • Ensure allocated weekly targets are reached.
  • Report on a weekly basis to Nemisa on the trained citizens per area against weekly
    and monthly targets.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Computer literate

Ideal:

  • Post matric qualification.
  • Computer certificate
  • Advance Computer Skills

Work Experience

Minimum: At least 1-2 years working experience.
Ideal: Must be bilingual ( English and region’s language)
