Purpose of the Green Angels Internships

In an effort to widen the pool of people who qualify for future employment in the emergency services sector, the Gauteng Department of Health’s (GDoH) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has issued a call for qualifying individuals to apply for a 12-month emergency care internship programme.

There is a total of 1,120 opportunities available within five health districts (Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng, and West Rand), providing ample opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals to contribute to emergency care services.

“Often when employment opportunities arise within the Gauteng EMS, it becomes clear that there are still barriers that prevent many people especially the previously disadvantaged groups from accessing these opportunities.Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko.

“Through this drive, we want to make sure that we afford as many people as possible an opportunity to be part of the Green Angels — another name the EMS personnel are known by,” explains Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko.
