About the State Diamond Trader

The State Diamond Trader is a state-owned entity established in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Amendment Act, 29 of 2005.

It is classified as a Schedule 3b entity of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).

We invite self-motivated and suitably graduates who wish to stand out in their field to apply for the following internship vacancy:


  • Graduate NQF level 7 qualification in Supply Chain Management.
  • A graduate in NQF level 8 qualification would be an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

Basic understanding of Treasury Regulations, PFMA, BBBEE, and PPPFA.

Knowledge of supply chain and asset management principles. Understanding of business and purchasing practices.

Understanding of contract management and Tender Administration Management procedures in a public entity.

Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Communication skills. Time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Accountabilities

During the first six (6) months, the Intern will be trained to be able to execute below accountabilities:

Assist in arrangements of Tender Committee meetings as per the SCM policy, practices, and general provisioning procedures. Source quotations on a rotational basis from suppliers.

Source suppliers from CSD on a rotation basis and ensure compliance with demand & acquisition management principles.

Verify information submitted by suppliers to ensure database integrity. Receive Supplier Tax Invoices, record and communicate to a responsible manager.

Ensure that all supply chain management documents are properly filed. Render asset management clerical duties.

Assist end-users with the timely development of specifications/terms of reference for sourcing quotations and bids.

Assist end-users with the compilation of Demand Management Plans and Procurement Plans. Compile and update bid and contract register.

Compile tender (bid) documents in consultation with the Bid Committee or as required. Comply with SCM policies.
