Job Purpose

The opportunity to gain working experience in a South African pharmaceutical company.

The objective of the leamership/programme is to provide newly qualified graduates with meaningful workplace experience in sales and marketing, working as a Sales representative in the Prescription division at Adcock Ingram.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • – To constantly achieve individual regional and divisional sales targets
  • – Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Independent and Retail Pharmacies Ensure adherence to product marketing strategy through management of stock levels, merchandising, promotional activity at pharmacies, and dispensaries.

  • – To identify opportunities in the market for new products and new growth areas for the business – Successfully implement sales and marketing strategies
  • – Analysis of regional sales, competitor and market share data, develop strategies and action plans to maximize sales potential in the respective area.
  • – To respond adequately and professionally to customer complaints and queries
  • – Meet the requirements of the role with regards to:
    • • Call rates.
    • • Coverage
    • • Sales targets
    • • Call logging.
    • • Sales analysis


Matric plus any of the following B degree or Honours:

  • ✓ Business Administration
  • ✓ Marketing
  • ✓ Physiology
  • ✓ Anatomy and Physiology
  • ✓ Pharmacology
  • ✓ Biotechnology
  • ✓ Anatomy
  • ✓ Medical Bioscience
  • ✓ Biology

Other requirements:

  • – Drivers licence
  • – Sales experience of 0-2 years
  • – Currently unemployed
  • – Younger than 35 years

Skills and Competencies

  • Intermediate Computer Literate (MS Package)
  • Good interpersonal skills and self-drive
  • Self-starter – Results driven.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Self- motivated, taking initiative.
