Qualifications
- National Diploma in Safety Management
- Minimum of three years working experience in the safety field
- A thorough knowledge of relevant legislations for example OHS-ACT, HAZCHEM and relevant SANS regulations
- Proficient in the English Language and Microsoft programs
Duties and Responsibilities
To effectively manage and minimize HSE risk within area of responsibility by ensuring:
- Compliance with all HSE Policies, rules, guideline and legal requirements
- Promotion of safe working environment and positively contributing to the company HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies
- That HSE competency requirements are identified & enforced within area of responsibilities Health, Safety and environment
- Maintain an up to date HSE Management System (One Maestro/One Maestro Log)
- Conduct ongoing risk assessment for critical tasks and revise when necessary
- Conduct Job observations for all critical activities at least once a week
- Conduct Monthly Fire Drills as per planning
- Assist the Depot Manager in preparing the Monthly Safety Meetings
- Regular checking of cylinders condition for quality (ie: Shroud, Foot-ring, Excessive rust and Revalidation date as per Company standards.
- Conduct Equipment Inspections within area of responsibility as per agreement with Depot Manager, upload onto share-point and assist in the closing out of deviations.
- Ensure that staff Health is maintained by having valid Medical Certificates in place
- Ensure that all staff have the Necessary PPE for their work Environment
- All safety Signage at the depot are inspected Monthly, updated and kept in good Condition
Technological Risk
- Ensure the monitoring of Critical Barrier Program
- Participate in the testing of Critical Barriers
- Participate in the development of Downgraded Situations
Contractor Management
- Ensure Contractor compliance (Company requirements and Contractor Safety Files)/ Maintain a library
- Issuing Work permits
- Ensure supervision of contractors while works are in progress
- Holds a Pre-job meeting with contractors in absence of Depot Manager
Administration
- Maintain a Proper Filling system of the HSE Management system
- Record keeping of HSE Management System including ( various inspections)
- Keep updated records of Depot licenses/Certificates renewal, training records, etc
Reporting
- Raise all event and nonconformance’s on SharePoint.
- Ensure all events are investigated, and effectively closed out following the recommendations identified.
- Complete month-end statistics and submit to HSE Operations specialist on the due date.
- Maintain SharePoint Safety Documents uploads.
Other
- Monitor and close out actions on the global action plan
- Train staff on procedures
- Instill safety culture to all Depot staff and contractors through safety toolbox talks
- Roll out HSE related initiatives as initiated by the HSE Department.
- Carry out any other lawful and reasonable instruction by the HSE Manager
