Scaw Metals: Apprenticeships 2024 (various trades) for unemployed South African youth

Job Summary

Scaw Metals does offer a limited number of apprentice training opportunities each year to students who have attained the equivelant of matric with Maths and Science.

Consideration is given ​to learners who have passed Matric/Technical Grade 12 (Technical Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science or currently registered for National Certificate Vocation Level 4 (NCV 4) at a Further Education and Training (FET) College.

We also offer practical training in the form of P1 and P2 modules for students studying for Engineering Diplomas in Electrical, Mechanical Physical/ Extractive Metallurgy, Non Destructive Testing and Chemical Engineering disciplines.

Scaw SA invites unemployed youth for training as apprentices for the following trades:

  1. Mechanical fitting
  2. Electrician
  3. Millwright

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants who want to be considered for one of the Apprenticeships mentioned above must comply with the following minimum entry requirements:

  • Have passed Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science (excluding Mathematics Literacy)
    OR
  • In possession of Engineering Science & Mathematics at National Technical Certificate (NTC3) (excluding Mathematics Literacy).

The applicant must be citizen of the Republic of South Africa and must have a valid driver’s license.

Selection and Appointment

Shortlisted candidates will be required to go through a comprehensive selection process which includes tests, interviews, medical, reference checks and verification of qualifications claimed.
