What Does the Role Entail?
The Participatory Approaches Research Consultant will be a critical part of Amnesty International’s research team. Key Responsibilities
- Design and Implement Participatory Research: Develop research methodologies that incorporate the voices of communities affected by human rights violations. This may involve workshops, focus groups, and interviews, aiming to facilitate community ownership of the research process.
- Data Analysis: Analyze qualitative and quantitative data collected from participatory research to provide insights that inform the organization’s strategies and advocacy efforts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and stakeholders to promote collaboration and ensure that research findings are relevant and impactful.
- Facilitation and Training: Conduct training sessions for both Amnesty staff and community members on participatory research methods to empower local voices in the human rights discourse.
- Report Writing: Prepare clear and compelling reports that showcase research findings and include recommendations for policy changes based on the data collected. These reports will be crucial for advocacy and influencing decision-makers.
- Collaboration with Various Teams: Work closely with Amnesty’s regional and thematic teams to integrate research findings into broader organizational strategies and campaigns, ensuring alignment with Amnesty’s overall goals.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of participatory research methods and their impact on community engagement and empowerment.
Qualifications: Who are We Looking For?
