Job Overview
The Consultant, Business and Human Rights will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to Amnesty International’s business and human rights program. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the field of business and human rights, including knowledge of international human rights law and standards, as well as experience working with companies, governments, and other stakeholders to promote responsible business practices.
Responsibilities
As a Consultant, Business and Human Rights, you will be responsible for:
- Providing expert advice and guidance on business and human rights issues to Amnesty International’s program teams, including researchers, campaigners, and policy advisors.
- Conducting research and analysis on business and human rights issues, including the impact of business operations on human rights.
- Developing and implementing strategies to engage with companies, governments, and other stakeholders to promote responsible business practices and respect for human rights.
- Collaborating with other organizations, experts, and stakeholders to advance business and human rights issues.
- Providing technical assistance and capacity building to local partners and other organizations working on business and human rights issues.
- Supporting the development of policy positions, statements, and reports on business and human rights issues.
- Participating in advocacy efforts at the national and international levels to promote business respect for human rights.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A master’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as law, international relations, business administration or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience working in the field of business and human rights, including experience working with companies, governments, or other stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of international human rights law and standards, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct research and analysis on complex issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
