The Role of an Emergency Response Specialist – Team Leader
As an Emergency Response Specialist – Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping CARE’s response strategy in the face of adversity. This dynamic position requires a unique blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience in emergency response operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Coordination: Lead and manage the Rapid Response Team during emergency deployments. This includes coordinating actions among diverse stakeholders, preparing response plans, and ensuring operational effectiveness.
- Needs Assessment: Conduct rapid assessments to identify the immediate needs of affected communities and coordinate with internal and external partners for an effective response.
- Program Implementation: Oversee the design and implementation of emergency programs that address food security, shelter, health, and protection needs. Ensure that all interventions are carried out in alignment with CARE’s standards and humanitarian principles.
- Capacity Building: Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the Rapid Response Team.
- Assessment and Reporting: Ensure comprehensive documentation of all response activities and lessons learned to inform future operations and improve responsiveness to crises.
- Resource Mobilization: Collaborate with national and international stakeholders for resource mobilization to ensure adequate supplies and funding for emergency operations.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate for the Emergency Response Specialist – Team Leader position will have:
- Education and Experience: A degree in a related field (e.g., International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Development Studies) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian response, disaster management, or a related area.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading teams under pressure, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity. A commitment to working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a capacity to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and present complex information clearly.
- Field Experience: Previous field experience in emergency situations is highly desirable.
