The Role
As the Programme Coordinator for BMZ (Advocacy and Campaigns), you will play a pivotal role in leading, coordinating, and implementing various advocacy initiatives and campaigns that align with our mission. Your work will involve close collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including other NGOs, governmental institutions, and community leaders, ensuring a collective effort toward impactful advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Development and Management: Lead the design and implementation of advocacy campaigns that resonate with the goals of BMZ and CIVICUS. You will be responsible for developing creative and strategic approaches to raise awareness on critical issues affecting civil society.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and grassroots movements. Your role will require effective communication and collaboration to amplify our advocacy messages.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research to inform advocacy strategies, ensuring that our campaigns are evidence-based and address the root causes of issues faced by civil society. You will analyze trends, monitor developments, and provide insights to enhance campaign effectiveness.
- Capacity Building: Support capacity-building initiatives aimed at equipping civil society organizations with the tools and knowledge necessary for effective advocacy. This includes organizing training sessions, workshops, and webinars.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop frameworks for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns. You’ll ensure that our advocacy efforts are assessed, allowing us to refine strategies and celebrate successes.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports and documentation related to campaign progress and outcomes. Your ability to convey complex ideas in clear, compelling language will be crucial for internal and external communications.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A degree in social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advocacy, campaigning, or related roles, preferably within a nonprofit or civil society context. Experience with BMZ or German development cooperation is a plus.
- Skills: Strong understanding of advocacy strategies, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in research methodologies and experience in monitoring and evaluation is essential.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of German or any other languages is a distinct advantage.
- Remote Work: Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment, demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills.
