Job Overview
As the Communications and Outreach Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that highlight our initiatives and impact. Your role will include creating engaging content, managing social media platforms, organizing events, and building relationships with stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, organized, and passionate about using communication as a tool for advocacy.
The postholder will perform duties in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below:
Communications, Advocacy and Outreach
- Coordinate within the team to document thematic reports on programme activities that materialise LAW’s vision on community engagement and survivor-centred approach;
- Support the implementation of the advocacy strategy and design products that can be shared with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Develop activity calendar for the projects covering plans for social media; website, press, events, awards and external communication;
- Draft donor briefings with visually appealing stories to highlight LAW’s impact of projects;
- Support LAW hosted events: liaising with panellists, preparing concept notes, agendas, flyers, and circulating all to participants;
- Design and develop posters, logos, infographics, videos, and other fact sheets and tool kits as per the programme requirement;
- Monitor, track indicators and evaluate media coverage; campaigns, publications prints and digital to maximize efficiency;
- Draft press releases, statements and articles articulating project impact and achievements effectively; Draft human-interest stories;
- Coordinate and support preparation of key messaging, LAW’s research reports and legal filings and concept notes for events.
- Establish relationships and maintain list of national and regional network and journalistic contacts;
- Conduct field visits and take produce impact stories and communications material for championing and profiling successful stories and social media posts;
- Any other task requested from the Programme Manager and the Communications Manager.
Social Media and Digital
- Support in the creation, designing of innovative, information toolkits (audio, digital) that will be used by Survivor Advocates for their field work.
- Develop a social media plan and identify various audiences for our social media channels, and plan how to increase LAW’s engagement nationally and globally.
- Design, deliver and maintain engaging content across our key social media channels, including ‘X’, to create impactful stories, case studies, and other content to engage with our audiences.
- Maintain and update the website content, collating inputs from the county programme;
- Research and analyze performance on the various platforms and make recommendations on how to improve our communications.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Education: A degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in communications, public outreach, or a similar role, preferably within a non-profit or legal context.
- Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex ideas simply and effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with social media platforms, content management systems, and basic graphic design tools.
- Passion for Advocacy: A strong commitment to human rights and social justice issues, with an understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities.
- Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
