The Role: Head of Learning & Leadership Development
The Head of Learning & Leadership Development plays a crucial role in shaping the future of Save the Children. This strategic position will be responsible for driving the organization’s learning and leadership development agenda globally. Here’s what you can expect in this role:
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Development:
- Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive learning and development strategy in line with Save the Children’s mission and organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement across all levels of the organization.
- Leadership Development:
- Design and oversee leadership development programs that build critical skills, enhance leadership capabilities, and empower our leaders to drive change effectively.
- Ensure that diverse leadership is nurtured, encouraging the participation of underrepresented groups in leadership training and mentorship initiatives.
- Learning and Knowledge Management:
- Develop frameworks and tools for capturing, sharing, and utilizing knowledge across the organization, ensuring that lessons learned lead to improved practices and outcomes.
- Collaborate with various teams to identify learning needs and develop tailored learning solutions.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior management and HR to align talent development initiatives with recruitment, retention, and succession planning efforts.
- Mentor, coach, and provide support to team members and colleagues in their professional development.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives and leadership programs, using data to make informed decisions about future strategies.
- Regularly report on the progress of learning and leadership initiatives at all levels of the organization.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in learning and development, organizational psychology, or related fields, with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a senior HR or Learning and Development role. Here are some additional qualities we seek:
- Innovative Thinker: The ability to develop and implement forward-thinking learning strategies that reflect current trends, challenges, and opportunities in the humanitarian sector.
- Passionate Leader: A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a strong desire to empower others and build a culture of collaboration.
- Effective Communicator: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to engage and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Data-Driven Approach: Proficiency in using data and analytics to assess learning needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement improvements.
- Hands-On Experience: Familiarity with learning technology and adult learning principles, including both traditional and innovative training methodologies for diverse audiences.
