What does a Learning Manager do?
As a Learning Manager at YCJF, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the learning experiences and development of the young leaders the organization supports. 1. Curriculum Development:

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Measuring Impact
- Leading and designing YCJF’s approach to gathering and sharing evidence of impact by developing clear indicators and tools like surveys, case studies and interviews. This includes analyzing findings to build a compelling case for increased philanthropic investment in youth-led funds
- Design an intentional, value-aligned “evidence agenda” with strategic qualitative and quantitative metrics based on the YCJF’s Theory of Change.
- Develop and implement an efficient system to simplify grantee partners’ reporting, create feedback processes to support learning and improvement within the YCJF community, and strengthen donor engagement and knowledge-sharing.
Evaluation and Learning
- Review and implement best practices to support grantee partners to track and learn from their strategies and cultivate learning for the YCJF and the philanthropic ecosystem.
- Actively participate in relevant peer and field monitoring and evaluation forums, sharing insights and bringing back knowledge to YCJF to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement (i.e. identifying and maintaining a repository of learning resources, such as reports, research papers, toolkits).
- Build a robust knowledge management system to centralize and archive learnings for easy access and reference.
- Identifying learning and development needs of the YCJF community through peer and field monitoring
- Lead the design of a collaboratively built strategic framework for duty of care and safeguarding policies for grantee partners.
- Lead the coordination of our annual report and additional learning outputs.
Research
- Lead the development of research and learning outputs for external audiences (i.e. support consultants to develop our 2025 scan of funding landscape for youth climate solutions, organize interviews about specific processes…)
- Collect insights and perspectives for philanthropic audiences with the Development team (i.e. work with regional committees to gather insights about specific issues pertaining to youth-led solutions for climate, filter and analyze grantee partners reports to identify learnings and trends, etc…).
- Facilitate cross-team efforts to refine, re-design and implement new strategic key performance indicators for the organization especially to prepare our 2026-2030 framework.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in working for a non-profit with some experience in facilitation, training, impact measurement, and learning practices. Experience within social justice and climate justice spaces are a plus.
- Proven track record of developing and leading qualitative research, organizing interviews with all sorts of stakeholders to collect insights.
- Experience managing teams and consultants to deliver impactful results in dynamic, globally distributed environments.
- Proven track record in communication and facilitation of both virtual and in-person events.
- Quick thinking, flexibility, and compassion in supporting communities facing challenging organizing conditions.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting social justice movements and uplifting historically marginalized groups, including BIPOC, women, queer individuals, and local communities.
- Dedicated to climate justice, with a focus on tackling systemic marginalization, exploitation, and oppression while championing equity and justice.
- Experience in working with grassroot communities and young people is an asset.
Skills
